Trailer of the Day: JOUR DE FÊTE at Top Down: Rooftop Cinema

J de F

Tati’s (M. HULOT’S HOLIDAY) first film frolics through the adventures of François, a rural postman who is the object of ridicule from his fellow townspeople because of his archaic methods. After watching an American film about modern methods, he mounts his beloved bicycle to demonstrate his own progressive ideas for postal efficiency. A film about technology and change—the bicycle represents traditional, humane values in a world increasingly dominated by machines and driven by the demands of speed and technology—that still resonates in the digital age. (79 mins.)

JOUR DE FÊTE is being presented as the Opening Night film of our annual Top Down: Rooftop Cinema series on Thursday, July 25 atop Hotel deLuxe’s parking structure (at SW 15th and Yamhill).  Doors are at 7p.m.; band at 8p.m.; film at 9p.m.  Advanced tickets and early arrival are highly recommended for guaranteed entry to the event, as these shows are extremely popular and do sell out.
