The Hitchcock 9 at Reel Music 31: THE MANXMAN w/ live musical accompaniment by TRES GONE

manxman2

In a remote fishing village on the Isle of Man, two boyhood friends—one a lawyer, the other a fisherman—are torn apart when they discover they are in love with the same woman—smolderingly sensual Anny Ondra, whom Hitchcock also cast in his suspense masterpiece BLACKMAIL. Shooting in Cornwall, Hitchcock makes striking use of the dramatic natural surroundings and vertiginous seaside cliffs in “one of the best and most mature works of his early career.”—BFI. (101 mins.)

With live musical accompaniment by Tres Gone.

Born from the ashes of Portland’s Gone Orchestra, Tres Gone is Mike Mahaffay on drums, Scott Steele on guitar and bass and Eric Hausmann on guitar synth; a  trio of improvisers who frequently collaborate with multimedia and an assortment of other artists.

A Rialto Pictures Release Restoration by the BFI National Archive in association with STUDIOCANAL. Principal restoration funding provided by Daniel and Joanna Friel and Ronald T. Shedlo. Additional funding provided by Deluxe 142.

THE MANXMAN screens Saturday, October 26 at 8pm in our Whitsell Auditorium (located in the Portland Art Museum).  THE HITCHCOCK 9 is being presented as part of our Reel Music 31 Festival.
