The 39th Portland International Film Festival: L’ATTESA

L'ATTESA (THE WAIT) copy

Anna (Juliet Binoche) sits alone in an old country house in Sicily. Her son Giuseppe has just died and there is nothing to do but mourn. When Jeanne (Lou de Laâge), her son’s girlfriend arrives—unaware of his passing—Anna chooses to withhold the truth, knowing that the secret must come out. As they wait and the days pass, they grow closer as the drama builds. A moving debut from Paolo Sorrentino’s (The Great Beauty) former assistant director. (100 mins.)

The 39th Portland International Film Festival is sponsored by the James F. & Marion L. Miller Foundation, Delta Airlines, LAIKA, Willamette Week, Regal Entertainment Group, Travel Portland, Umpqua Bank, The Autzen Foundation, Amtrak Cascades, The Lamb-Baldwin Foundation, Hotel deLuxe, Hotel Eastund, Voodoo Doughnut, TV5Monde, and many others.
